Kontrast and The Hampton Classic, August 23-30
One good thing leads to another..we met acclaimed artist Lynn Matsuoka at the art event earlier this summer and were invited to add our horse pillows to her exhibit/shop during the Hampton Classic horse show. Lynn has a fascinating history - she lived in Japan for over 20 years documenting sumo wrestlers and Japan's top Kabuki actors. She was one of the few 'outsiders' ever allowed to observe the secretive sanctums of sumology and gained super star status during her tenure in Tokyo. Lynn now lives in Bridgehampton and for this show, applies her signature style to the world of equestrianism.
A quote from her press release, below.
Blessed with a gift of documentary story-telling fused with a rare visual craft, Matsuoka's art conjures up the poetic imagery of birds in flight and horses gliding over the earth. Her brush glides over the canvas or paper, creating a startling whirr of images and motion. Her sure hand designs poetic movements that stir emotion in the viewer, and her compelling work has thus earned over 40 international solo shows.
